No one tells you that the day you see that little plus sign, you will feel every emotion in the book. And that as terrified as you are, it will be nothing compared to the overwhelming excitement and happiness coursing through you. That is the moment when your life will change forever. Your whole identity will change. You will go from being you, to being a MOM!
No one tells you that the moment you tell your spouse the news, your relationship is taken to a whole new level because now you are emotionally AND physically connected. You will love them more than ever, because they gave you this little miracle!
No one tells you that the first time you hear that little tiny heart beating loud and strong, everything will all the sudden be real. The idea of that baby, suddenly becomes an actual baby. And you will cry. A LOT.
No one tells you that when you have your first ultrasound, you will start to imagine what your little one will look like. Will it have your eyes? Will it have his smile? And then you'll realize that none of that really matters. Because you will love that baby no matter what.
No one tells you that every single one of those extra pounds you see on the scale and inches added to your belly will be a constant reminder of the person your body is working so hard to create! Of the miracle that is happening inside of you! And the first time you go out after telling the world you're pregnant, you will push that belly out with pride.
No one tells you that the day you find out the gender of your baby, it won't matter whether you wanted a boy or a girl. Because he or she is perfect and beautiful and yours.
No one tells you that when your whole body is swollen and huge, and you have to waddle everywhere you go, you will just be happy that your baby is still healthy, thriving, and INSIDE your belly.
No one tells you that when you're up all night every night because of discomfort and needing to pee every hour, you won't care because it's more time you get to daydream of holding your little one.
No one tells you that the day you check into the hospital, you will be absolutely terrified because you don't know what you've gotten yourself into, and yet, you will know that you will get through it, because you were made to do this.
And last but not least,
No one tells you that the moment you hold that precious, sweet miracle in your arms, you won't feel any of the pain you felt moments ago. You won't care that they aren't clean, or that you're tired, or that all the sudden there are things still coming out of you AFTER the baby. Because you will feel joy and love greater than you ever could have imagined. Your child is finally here. You are a mom! And you are holding a miracle!
Be grateful for every moment spent creating that miracle during the 9 long months of pregnancy, because if you ask me, it's worth it.
